As I’ve tried to make clear, the problem isn’t that Barack Obama is deporting illegal immigrants. We should deport illegal immigrants. Why have laws if you’re not going to punish those who break them?

The problem is the dishonest and despicable way in which the administration has gone about enforcing the law – all for the sake of politics. The Department of Homeland Security has a quota to meet so it sets a low bar as to who gets deported to run up the numbers and then, for the sake of PR, administration officials – both at DHS and the White House – flat out LIE about who is getting deported. They want us to believe that most of the people removed were criminals. The facts say otherwise, as a new study makes clear.
